Choosing a calculation method

ISNA, MWL, Umm al-Qura — pick the one your community follows.

Calculation methods determine the angles used for Fajr and Isha. Your masjid has likely already settled on one — match the existing convention so your jamaat sees no surprises.

Supported methods

  • ISNA — common in North America (15° / 15°).
  • MWL — Muslim World League (18° / 17°).
  • Egyptian — Egyptian General Authority (19.5° / 17.5°).
  • Karachi — University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi (18° / 18°).
  • Umm al-Qura — Saudi Arabia (18.5° / 90 min after Maghrib).
  • Tehran — University of Tehran (17.7° / 14°).
  • Custom — set your own Fajr / Isha angles.

Asr juristic method

Choose Standard (Shafi'i / Maliki / Hanbali — shadow length × 1) or Hanafi (shadow length × 2). The default is Standard.

High-latitude rule

For masjids above ~48° latitude where Fajr/Isha don't occur in summer, pick a high-latitude rule: Middle of the Night, One-Seventh, or Angle-Based. We default to Middle of the Night.
